Rick: Crohn's disease

Rick was diagnosed with Crohn's disease in 1986. As a result of this deadly disease, he was forced to undergo six intensive surgeries. It was in 1989 that doctors performed one of these surgeries on Rick, extracting his colon and over 46 inches of his large and small bowels, which had been destroyed by the disease.

Even after this emergency surgery, Rick was still in constant pain. He describes the pain he went through, "It was like imprisonment. I felt bound to my house. I couldn't go anywhere because of the embarrassment of this disease." The abdominal pain was so severe and at times, so sudden, that "it came on me without any warning" and I could do nothing "but hunch over and not move because the pain was so unbearable," Rick states. To numb the pain, doctors prescribed 28 pills a day for Rick to take.

During an NBHC service, Rick received a prophetic word that he was healed of Crohn's disease. Rick received the word of God and he believed he was healed because the pain was no longer in his stomach. To confirm his belief, Rick went to see another specialist who performed a colonoscopy on him. The specialist was astonished as he told Rick that he must have never had Crohn's disease because his digestive organs were as healthy as a 12 year old boy's. The specialist also exclaimed that the doctors who had previously performed surgeries on Rick's body must have been lying to him. Even though Rick showed him the scar from his surgeries, the specialist concluded that he must have never had his colon and bowels taken out because the pictures from his scope clearly showed a healthy, complete colon and unblocked bowels. Today, Rick has both the pictures and documentations from his previous surgeries along with the pictures the specialist took after the healing took place. What happened to Rick is indeed, a creative miracle that can not be denied. This is truly a miracle that only our God could perform!
